Hi again
I just realized that there is an extra error showing up (GLXBadContext), which may indicate an OpenGL issue. This may be forcing idl to use the internal software based rendering routines, which are limited to that size.
If I set LIBGL_DIAGNOSTIC=1, I get:
(…) Info apple_glx.c:116 apple_init_glx(140735160709904): Initializing libGL.Debug apple_cgl.c:92 apple_cgl_init(140735160709904): CGL major 1 minor 2 WARNING: unknown GLX tag from server: tag 0x20d0 value 0x0 (…) WARNING: unknown GLX tag from server: tag 0x20d0 value 0x0 WARNING: unknown GLX tag from server: tag 0x20d1 value 0x0 WARNING: unknown GLX tag from server: tag 0x20d2 value 0x0 WARNING: unknown GLX tag from server: tag 0x20d3 value 0x0 error: invalid pixel format % X windows protocol error: GLXBadContext.

Hi guys
I use a commercial software package (idl) on my mac for a few years now, and it runs very well with Xquartz. A couple of OS X / Xquartz versions ago (sorry I can’t be more specific) I could create a widget (Motif based) with scroll bars that would display an image as large as 6000 x 6000 (maybe larger). With my current setup (OS X 10.9, Xquartz 2.7.5) this is now limited to 4096 x 4096. Internally to idl this is referred to as MAX_VIEWPORT_DIMENSIONS.
I think this may be related to Xquartz (and maybe with the equivalente of the “Virtual” entry in xorg.conf). Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance, Ricardo
