If I customize the Terminal application using:
xterm -fa Monaco -fs 13 -sb -s1000 -fg yellow -bg black -geometry 80x50 &
it works nicely when I start an xterm from the X11 applications menu.
However, when I open XQuartz, it opens a tiny xterm window with a minuscule font and not my own PATH or other environment variables that are in the .bash_profile.
Here's the .Xresources file [and the prompt they gave me:-( :
bash-3.2$ cat .Xresources
/*
* test
*/
XTerm*bg: black
Xterm*fg: yellow
Xterm*geometry: 80x50
/*
XTerm*font: -*-Monaco-*-*-*-13-*
*/
It didn't work any better with the font line, although I did see a cuss message at some point that said it couldn't load the font. xlsfonts doesn't show any Monaco.
What is the secret [and this whole process is extremely arcane!] to:
- having it use my bash profile?
- setting the parameters for the initial xterm that comes up when you open XQ?
I created xinitrc.d in my home directory:
jtImac:/Users/jt>>cat xinitrc.d
.bash_profile
jtImac:/Users/jt>>
no difference:-(
