I am using GMT (generic mapping tools) and SAC (Seismic Analysis Code), and each use X11 (or XQuartz on 10.9.4 Mavericks) to display graphics. When I want to display postscript using ghostview, I get the error:
$ gv map.ps
gv: Unable to open the display.
When I want to display a basic plot in SAC, I get this error:
SAC> Funcgen Impulse
SAC> Plot
X11 Screen does not exist
Segmentation fault: 11
The problem must be with setting up the environment, so that -bash knows to open XQuartz. My path is: $ echo $PATH
/sw/bin:/sw/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/opt/X11/bin:/usr/local/sac/bin
and in my ~/.bashrc file, I have written: `test -r /sw/bin/init.sh && . /sw/bin/init.sh . /sw/bin/init.sh export DISPLAY=:0 export SACHOME=/usr/local/sac . ${SACHOME}/bin/sacinit.sh'
Lastly, in my ~/.profile, I have written: test -r /sw/bin/init.sh && . /sw/bin/init.sh
. /sw/bin/init.sh
export PATH=/usr/X11R6/bin:$PATH
source ~/.bashrc
Where could the problem be, or am I missing a line of code somewhere?
