Hi,
Any Xfwm4 users on the list?
I've just installed the latest version (4.12.3), and it still shows a glitch
which I'm beginning to think must be due to some issue in XQuartz.
Dialogs ('transient for' windows(?)) are stacked behind the window they're a
transient for. Since most of the time they're smaller than that parent window,
they don't appear.
It's not a one-time thing either: I have at least 1 application where the dialog
window is pushed back to the back whenever I change the dialog "sheet".
The WM also has a feature where a window that's restacked with transients open
will keep the transients in the appropriate stacking order. This feature works
fine and in my case that means that the dialog is put back in its appropriate
position.
I do notice another difference with xfwm4's behaviour on Linux which seems
related, but that may be a subtle setting I didn't copy: once an application has
a (modal?) dialog open I can no longer activate the parent window.
Has anyone else seen this kind of behaviour, in xfwm4 or in other window
managers? I've looked through the code, but for now I've only found where the
above mentioned restacking is implemented.
Thanks,
R.
