You probably have Carbon.framework in your project, so I'd recommend #include <Carbon/Carbon.r>, which will pull in the CarbonCore resource files under its umbrella.
OK. That eliminated the SysError 2. Now I get the same result that I got in my workaround (define STR# myself) - but even worse. I get 118 additional errors, one for each resource type definition. But the build succeeds (as it did with my workaround).
Rezzing resources/mystrings.r (119 errors) Type 'KSWP'
... Type 'snfo' Resource 'STR#' (-8015, "Samples", purgeable). Build succeeded (119 errors)
What are these errors and how can I fix that?
You're passing -progress, which shows diagnostic output. Stop doing that and they will go away.
