You don't tell Xcode anything about the svn repository. All you
can do is enable SCM in the project and make sure you have the
right path to the svn executable. Then, Xcode uses the svn
information that's stored in the invisible .svn directories of the
project directory hierarchy.
In other words, you have to check out the repo from OUTSIDE of
Xcode (say, at the command line, or ZigVersion, or...), then load
the project from that checked-out directory, and with SCM enabled
for that project it'll just know where the repository is.
Yes, it's very confusing, and not at all user-friendly.
Aha! OK, that makes some sense (in a confusing, and not at all user-
friendly way). Thank you!
Now, I've got it checked out, and I've got the XCode project linked
up to the checked-out copy, and it seems like it's recognizing the
SCM settings. However, now I'm getting an error in the SCM pane's
text view (creating the file TODO):
--
cd /Users/tcollett/devel/work/orchid/orchid-dev/
/usr/local/bin/svn status --show-updates --verbose TODO
svn: Unrecognized URL scheme for 'http://penguin.oriska.corp/svn/
orchid/orchid-dev'
--
The project's top level is ~/devel/work/orchid and orchid-dev is the
current branch (actually, it's currently the only branch...which is
one reason I wanted to get version-control working...).
And yes, "penguin.oriska.corp" really is the name of the SVN server;
we've got an internal DNS server with some funky settings...
