The Xcode engineers are free to jump and in correct me, but I don't think you can do this.
From my personal testing, I've come to the conclusion that Xcode has a very line-centric implementation of searches. It appears that grep patterns are applied to individual lines of text, making multi-line matches impossible.
Regex searches are line-centric. (The potential for unbounded matches is atrocious when doing multiline grep.)
Straight text search is literal, and can contain embedded tab and return characters for exact match. Just copy and paste (you obviously can't type Tab or Return into the field, as those keys close editing and initiate the find).
