10.2.4 OBEX connection Bug

Hi, I have a TDK bluetooth Adapter and A Nokia 6310 phone. - I am running 10.2.4 I have been noticing strange behaviour in pairing / connecting to the phone since upgrading to 10.2.4 I have been using the Obj-C OBEX classes (much like in OBEXSample) in my own app. Under 10.2.4 I often have to unplug my USB adapter and re-attach it before my mac will sucessfully make an OBEX connection to the phone. When it fails to connect I either get kOBEXSessionNotConnectedError (or sometimes 4 which does not seem to be a valid return code) When this happens I must unplug-replug to get connections going again. This did not happen before 10.2.4 This happens in Address Book too. Very occasionally this causes my app to crash - and by the look of the crash report - it's not in my code: Is this crash dump useful? Another thing I noticed is that when the user cancels the snazzy new bluetooth Service Discovery sheet it seems to return -1001 and not kIOBluetoothUIUserCanceledErr (-128) like the old one used to. Hi Eric, Thanks for the quick reply. No problem, actually thank you for providing feedback. I tried the steps you suggested in the Bluetooth Serial Utility and I was unable to reproduce the bug. So I was wondering if you could enable the crash report (In the console app go in preferences, select the crash tab and there the enable switch), reproduce the crash in the Bluetooth Serial Utility and send me the crash log. This may hint of which object caused the crash. ... thanks ... ... What makes me think that the problem exists within Apple's bluetooth system software is the fact that I can now "reliably" cause Apple's Bluetooth Serial Utility to unexpectedly quit, doing the same thing that causes my application to unexpectedly quit. Here are the chain of events that results in the crash: Run the Bluetooth Serial Utility. Click the "Select Device..." button with or without first entering text in the "Name:" field. "All types" and "Discovered Devices" are selected in the Device Type and Device Category popups. Click the "Search" button. There are 12 bluetooth devices, of various types, in range of my computer. Wait till "Discovering Bluetooth Devices..." has finished. While "Reading device name x of y." is displaying, select a device and a service and click "Select". The "Select Bluetooth Service" window goes away, and you are taken back to the "Please provide a name..." dropdown pane. At this point I can sit there and do nothing, I can enter a name and click "OK", or whatever. After a few seconds, the application will unexpectedly quit, regardless of what I do after I click "Select". I've had this happen a number of consecutive times now. If there's some bad code in my application, it seems like there is similar bad code in the Bluetooth Serial Utility. Hi Eric, You may have an extra release here. Most objects in the Bluetooth framework are autoreleased. For example +[IOBluetoothDevice withAddress:] returns a device that is in the autorelease pool, you need to retain it to have a valid reference. Also if later on you release the device without the reatain I after +[IOBluetoothDevice withAddress:] a crash is pretty much unavoidable. ... I have to third that motion. I have had significant problems connecting to our BT devices (which aren't phones or any other device type listed in the "Device Type" pulldown menu of Apple's BT browser) since upgrading to 10.2.4. The Bluetooth Serial Utility even crashes periodically when I try to use it to make connections. My application likewise crashes periodically when the IOBluetoothDevice openConnection method fails. However, the crash doesn't occur immediately, but seemingly at the end of the current run loop (and no, I'm not autoreleasing any objects). Because the crash doesn't occur immediately, I have been able to add a mechanism (ok, a couple of lines of code) to make a predetermined number of retries when the connection fails. I was just about to post to this list about the same thing. I am writing a dialer app that talks to various cell phones over bluetooth. Several people in my company have upgraded to 10.2.4 and have virtually had bluetooth stop working. This is a serious problem for us as we already have shipping versions of our software that will break when the user upgrades to 10.2.4. Does anyone have anymore insight into this problem? It even works (almost) with the > MBTH However, sometimes (often) the caller's name is partially truncated by a ring tone. Has anyone else tried the T68i with other headsets? In particular has anyone tried this with any of the Ericsson Headsets like the HBH-10, HBH-15, HBH-30, or HBH-60. I have no experience with this. 5. I can use the Address Book to dial my T68i phone. However when I do that I can't use my MBTH. Is this a know bug? If so, this is too bad as it was one of the goals for Bluetooth, the so called "Ultimate Headset". Again, has anyone tried with Ericsson headsets? Problems with 10.2.4 bt - how to debug?

Hello all, I have been updating our systems to 10.2.4 and now have bluetooth problems. I have seen others mentioning them too on different boards and such why I don't think it is me that have screwed up the installation, so I haven't really bothered to try it on a vanilla installed system. (Besides, if I have screwed up our installation I would like to know what I have done wrong, and the software should anyway be fixed so that it doesn't behave like it does.) I get problems just trying to back up my phone's address book with the "Ericsson Client" software. It very seldom manages to connect (and just sits there saying "scanning"). I have tried with both the Bluetooth-Modem port and other ports I have made with the Bluetooth Serial Utility. I have managed to make a modem (PPP) connection work once out of 20 tries, I have no idea how I did it. At all other times it says something along the lines of the port not being availabe, and no error codes. The real big problem is that when trying this it is really easy to make the machine half hung - I can move the cursor and I can open TCP connections to it, but that is all - everything else that I can think of stand still. It typically happens when I try to use serial communication over BT, but I am of course not sure what really causes it. I haven't tried remote debugging the kernel yet since I don't know what to look for. I can't use PacketDecoder2 either, on "Start Sampler" it says "IOServiceOpen()/Error e00002bd returned/Bummer" (e00002bd = IOKit/can't allocate memory) Is there any way I can enable some debugging on the blued and/or the Bluetooth kexts to get a clue on what's going on? Bluetooth internet access using an Ericsson T68M

Has anyone been able to use dial-up with an Ericsson T68M phone. I am using OS X 10.2.3, a D-Link DWB-120M Bluetooth adapter and I get the following message from Internet Connect: "No carrier detected. Please check phone line connection and try again." I followed the instructions at: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86151 which describe how this is supposed to work. The phone dials. But then I get the error message. I can successfully use iSync between the Mac and the phone so Bluetooth is working fine. Any help is appreciated.
