Some of the articles haven't been updated yet to reflect the 1.5 release (one article says printing isn't supported at all), and the link to the 1.4.1 update points to the 1.5 update rather than actually changing the text of the link. I hope those items will be fixed by the AppleCare folks soon. But the key is in the 1.5 release notes: "Printers must support the Bluetooth Hard Cable Replacement Profile (HCRP) and have a Mac OS X Bluetooth enabled printer driver." You've met the first requirement, but not the second. You'll need to check with HP about the availability of a new driver for your printer that is enabled for Bluetooth. Bluetooth 1.5 Printing

When reading my mail yesterday I was very very very happy. Apple finally supported bluetooth printing! Sinds the HP Deskjet 995c supports the HCRP profile (works on WinXP and my iPaq) I was really hoping that it would work. Also Alan Berkema of HP ensured me that the HCRP profile is supported. (I had to do a firmware upgrade using Windows XP :I ) I tried these 3 methodes to add my 995c: 1. Bluetooth Setup Assistant Set up new bluetooth device > Printer > Select my 995c Here it says: "Searching for printers - 1 found." When continuing and setting up the name for my printer it shows: "Configuring printer" and than: "Driver not installed" 2. Printer Setup Utility When adding a printer in the printer list, I select type "Bluetooth" Than it shows my 995c in gray (non selectable) and gives this message: "Searching for printers." After a wile it will stop searching saying: "Search Completed - 0 found." and even removes my 995c (in gray) from de list! 3. Printer dialog When selecting the printer "Bluetooth Printers" > "995c" it recognizes my 995c as an bluetooth printer. After selecting it says: "Creating printer" And than, after a little while it says: "An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer" After waiting a vert long time for this, still no printing over bluetooth! What I'm I doing wrong and how can I fix this? HURRAY! :-) Our wishes have been heard, and we have been given! This is great news for telephony app users! Thanks a lot, guys! /ragge Yep, after a very very very long time I am now listening to iTunes, playing on my 17 AlBook, on my Ericsson HBH-15 bluetooth headset. This was the first Ericsson headset now about 2 years old but impressed it worked straight after software update installed the Bluetooth 1.5. There are some problems however. Once the HBH-15 is paired up to the PowerBook and then you turn the headset off and go to System Prefs ---> Sound and try to revert back to the internal sound the Sound Prefs pane gets stuck with a spining beach ball. Also you get a user notification "Bluetooth audio failed.... some audio program may have to be started bla bla bla There is some serious conflict going on between Sound pref panel and I think BezelUISer (looking at top) To recreate problem, pair a bluetooth headset, select bluetooth device in System Prefs ---> Sound . Now turn off bluetooth headset, go to System Prefs ---> Sound and select normal line in input. Turn headset back on, click headset button and see that it is connected in System Prefs --->BlueTooth Prefs . Now if you go to System Prefs ---> Sound and try to select bluetooth headset you get the spining beach ball. If you force system prefs to quit and restart and try again, same thing happens. Once in this situation, only thing to do is turn bluetooth off (from finder menu icon), put sound to normal line in. If you want to put the sound back to bluetooth then you select in System prefs, turn bluetooth back on and RESTART . If you don't restart and go back to System Prefs ---> Sound you get the spining ball. I can do a more detailed bug report if it is needed, hope someone can look into this. Looking droolingly at new STEREO bluetooth headset from Sony-Ericsson, HBM-30 (search at sony-ericsson.com) I wonder if bluetooth file exchange will work so that I can send a mp3 from my PowerBook to the bluetooth headsets built in memory stick. Anyone on list try it? Would really like to know how iTunes sounds on one of these stereo bluetooth headsets. Its not that it will break the SDK, but it will disable PacketDecoder support. However all of the headers installed with 1.4.1 are valid with 1.5. Bluetooth 1.5 update

As you know now, we've just released the 1.5 update which adds headset and printing support. We are currently working to prepare an SDK for 1.5 and will post here as soon as its available (or if history is a guide, somebody will notice it on the download servers before we even get the link posted on the web site :-). We are working out our process for preparing and posting SDKs, so in the future SDKs should be available shortly after any new client release of the Bluetooth software. The Bluetooth 1.5 update contains new end user features in the form of printing and headset support. There really isn't any new API or developer features in 1.5, however it might be useful to some if I describe a little how the new features work. The printing support in 1.5 is implemented using the HCRP profile. It provides a bridge from the Mac OS X printing system to Bluetooth printers that implement HCRP. It does require a Bluetooth enabled printer driver from the printer manufacturer. Existing 3rd party printer drivers will not work. The current printer support is done through the GIMP printer drivers that ship with Mac OS X. Printers can be set up using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, the printer dialog or the Printer Setup Utility. Once configured, a Bluetooth printer will remain available to the system until deleted from the Printer Setup Utility. The headset support in 1.5 is implemented using the Headset profile. It requires either an Apple internal module or D-Link module (rev b2 or later) with the latest firmware update (currently 1.0.2 available at http://www.info.apple.com/usen/bluetooth/) Headsets must be configured using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant. They will not work if only paired using the pairing panel. Once configured, an input and output audio device appears in the system that can be used by any application. If an application has its own audio preferences, the headset can be selected within it. Otherwise, it can be selected as the default audio output or input device in the audio panel in the System Preferences application. There are no new APIs associated with SCO or headset support however. It is implemented solely in the kernel with changes to the HCI controller and a new audio driver. Ideally, the headset support provides all that is necessary so in theory no public API is needed. However I have seen talk of interest in handsfree profile support, so if anybody has a use for that, please contact me off-list. If there any other questions about 1.5, or the Bluetooth software in general, please post them to this list and we will do our best to answer them. One word or warning regarding the 1.3.3 and 1.4.1 SDKs. They are only intended to be installed on a system that already has the same version of the Bluetooth stack. So if you are running Jaguar, you need Mac OS X 10.2.8 plus the Bluetooth 1.3.3 software update on your system before installing the 1.3.3 SDK. If you are running Panther, you need either Mac OS X 10.3.1 plus the Bluetooth 1.4.1 software update or Mac OS X 10.3.2 (which contains the Bluetooth 1.4.1 update). As it's been pointed out, I've posted the latest Bluetooth SDKs for Jaguar (v1.3.3) and Panther (v1.4.1) at http://developer.apple.com/sdk/#Bluetooth/ . The change History and new features for updated Bluetooth SDKs are documented in the installed SDK read me file. In addition, software update "Bluetooth 1.5" is now available. "Bluetooth 1.5" for Mac OS X provides support for Bluetooth enabled headsets and printers. NOTE: Headsets must support the Bluetooth headset profile and printers must support the Bluetooth HCRP profile.
