For clarification, because I was about to post a similar question, if the iPhone rings. BLE can be used to notify a remote device. Therefore negating the need to register for the MFI program? Or is this not considered a custom service? MFi is not required for BLE accessories. The custom services somehow "guarantee" that your peripheral won't interfere with other apps. With classic BT, there's the problem that many peripherals use the SPP profile for different purposes, with no clean way to distinguish between them. Therefore, MFi is necessary there. Nope. Just generate a UUID and use it. My solution was to access it blindly/directly from the root folder via SetPATH.
