Where is code that writes raw debug/panic messages to display?

Hi, Could someone please point me to the code that writes the raw "panic" messages to the display before waiting for the debugger, etc.? Darwin kernel 201-42-3 for OS X 10.1.5

Hi, I downloaded the kernel 201-42.3 and rebuilt the kernel for OS X 10.1.5. Rebooted and it worked. Now I am wondering whether 201-42.3 is the best kernel for 10.1.5. Are people still fixing bugs in this branch? Should I build based on 201-9-1 or others? Any response is appreciated.
