Does anyone know how to do that? They really like what I have so far, but I need to get rid of those extra items in the list. AFAIK, you can't. You can try some tricks but this will result in issues and is not supported. If you want to have a UI that differs from the standard usual user experience, you might try writing a custom front-end using the Authentication Service and the installer command line tool. PackageMaker Permissions Inconsistency

Running the exact same automated build script of the exact same code on two pretty much identical 10.5.5 machines is generating two subtly different packages. The installer BOM builds as expected on one machine, but on the other, certain files are given 0664 permissions when the -contents.xml in the .pmdoc (generated by PackageMaker) specifies 0644. Other than this, the packages generated appear identical. The files given to the installer are identical, the OSes are at the same revision, using ssh or not doesn't make any difference. Also, the permissions on the destination directories are the same. Can anyone explain what's going on here? (1) To check the OS version, you need to compare your minimum, maximum version number against system.version.ProductVersion or my.target.systemVersion.ProductVersion. The documentation only talks about the ProductVersion key for system.version and it only vaguely points to the man page of sw_vers. (Bug ID#6286814) (2) If you check the system version from a volume-check script for from a choice, you definitely need to be aware that if no OS is installed on a partition, an exception is raised if you use: A solution I found is to check that my.target.systemVersion is not undefined (this is a Javascript constant) before trying to compare an OS version. As a matter of fact this allows you to check whether a Mac OS X distribution is installed or not on a partition. As was said in previous posts, PackageMaker 3 generates buggy OS version requirements because it does not use the compareVersions method. But it apparently uses a trick to deal with this raised exception. Now, what happens if this exception is raised in your volume-check script and you do not deal with it? 1. The partitions with no OS can't be selected (that's OK in most cases). 2. The only purpose of one of the components is to run a postflight script that opens the folder that is being installed the other components (I can’t put the postflight script in the distribution package – it has to be within a component). If I run that component on its own, the script runs correctly. If I run the distribution package, the message flashes by that the script is running- but it never does. Any ideas why it would work in the component and not within the distribution? I tried to reproduce this but it worked in my case: the script opens a http URL. To test this, I created a distribution metapackage with a post install action (this adds a package with a postflight script).
