IIRC, you can only call that in response to a parameter changed event, so you have to set the default value properly when you create the parameter.

What is strange, it always works for the first to publish. When I add more than one, the first one still shows the expand button when I select it. But the others show only the point in time, but no curve. All four parameters are identical, value 0..100. It makes no difference, if I add them to the same Rig or if I create a new Rig for each slider. Can you or the Developers please check if you can add more than one sliders as curves? Otherwise I should probably file a bug for that. Small extra question, is there a way to reorder the parameters? They appear in opposite order of creation in motion, but they end up in random order in the HUD in FCPX. It really is more of a problem than waiting for exit. Instead of just letting things "dangle" at the end, what about some type of cleanup callback that is traversed (something other than "dealloc"?), to balance the each call to initWithAPIManager ? Assuming we'll cleanup upon exit is also not particularly satisfying. Let's say the user wants to close a project and start another one. It would be great to have all the plug-ins that have been initialized in one project, but not used in another, be "undone". Would you like to be told "you need to close the app to release licenses"? Seems like an overly cumbersome workaround. Yes, we can tell people to do that (and we do), but a better solution would certainly be advantageous. What about people that keep other kinds of resources around that could b ereleased? You assume this only need to be cleaned up upon exit, but I purport there are many other scenarios where this would be useful. It’s something I’ve done some work on, but there are some big architectural things that make it difficult to get this working how you want. Right now, the only solution I know of is to use an exit handler (see ‘man atexit’ for more info) when the app quits and release all remaining licenses that you’re holding on to. In particular we needed to tell our floating license server (in another process) to release any licenses upon exit, which can only be done by a deallocation of the apiManager object we create for our plug-in (and needs to be done for each invocation of initWithApiManager for a balanced set of calls). So not calling –dealloc on our apiManager object doesn't give us this chance to setup and release our licenses in a balanced way. So what is the proposed proper way for us to "undo" what we did in "init" in a balanced way? During shutdown, the apps do not free every piece of memory that they allocated. Since the operating system will free all memory used by the app’s process, the apps just quit and let the OS reclaim the memory rather than manually going through every object and deallocating them. This significantly speeds up shutdown times for users. If a particular resource is not used within, say, 10 last seconds I deallocate the resource. If it's being used again then I reclaim it.

One of the prior versions of PPro for OSX also had this bug - they didn't call appropriate deinit functions on exit. I've created a C++ class and defined it globally on stack. C++ class destructor will be called for sure when a program exits and stack is being deallocated. That C++ class managed all my resources, e.g. I registered resource allocation, deallocation with it and additionally it deallocated all with left references in its destructor. Yes, PPro plugins are pure C, while FxPlug is Objective-C, but I believe if you compile codes as Objective-C++ then this will run properly.

site_archiver(a)lists.apple.com Delivered-To: pro-apps-dev(a)lists.apple.com Hello all, I am looking at manipulating an FCP-X XML file so that for a given text the crop value for a title from Motion template is just right. >From the XML I have the font and the font size, so that I can make an NSAttributedString of my text, and then I can ask it for its size. The idea is to then calculate the right amount of cropping for the backdrop of the text. I have two questions about this: First, is this the right approach? Second, if so, once I have the text element’s size, what do I compare it against? Is there a standard, virtual frame size to use? I am asking this because the title looks the same relative to the frame it’s in, regardless whether it’s placed in a 960p or a 1920p project. Any hints will be much appreciated.
