I'm trying to build DirectoryServices and I get this error: I suggest invoking xcodebuild similarly to how darwinbuild would invoke it using the darwintrace library (or alternatively using dtruss) to record which files are accessed during the build. IOKit Kext and Battery/Power State

That is specifically if the computer is running on battery power or if it is plugged in. The kext has the potential for running down the battery rapidly so we'd like to throttle the processing if the computer is running on battery. I've noticed a few things in the pwr_mgt folder but the documentation is little thin on which functions to use and how it all goes together. How does a kext get notified (or poll) the state of the power system as it changes from battery to charger or charger to battery. Thanks, ...Duane -- "I have not failed. The frame buffer driver is actualy accessed through the "km" tty driver, and there isn't a device node published in /dev for that. It'd be more correct to start a getty up on that devices (major # 12, minor number 0, subject to change in the future). Typically, this won't do what you expect, though, because the getty and login programs do not contain the complete logic for establishing a controlling tty and doing session management. Dave's little program in his other reply is enough to get one program up, and semi-logged in on a sesion, assuming it's compiled in the POSIX compilation environment so that the lack of the O_NOCTTY lets the console become the controlling tty for your process. Note that someone else can, if they choose, simply rip the console out from under you with TIOCCONS, since you are talking to the alias device (/dev/console) rather than the real device (/dev/km, which does not have a device node assigned to it). Second sentence of the first paragraph ... asr efficiently copies disk images onto volumes, either directly or via a multicast network stream. asr can also accurately clone volumes without the use of an intermediate disk image.
