It's not unusual that when you have 2 versions of Mac OS X installed, the "future" version gets launched instead of the one of the running OS. I've seen this case a lot with Preview and TextEdit. After installation, does the application bundle contain everything it's supposed to? Turns out that on Panther, the .app part of the folder name is dropped! The only way to resolve it would be to reinstall your system -- it looks as if your SoftwareUpdate application and Install.framework are mismatched -- hence the freeze on the "selector not recognized" exception. The installer project is a single package project. The installer works fine on Tiger. If you want the UI of that plug-in to look like the Installer License UI, there's some code available under the BSD license to do that. * Code a helper tool which will display the licenses and let the user accept or refuse them. Of course, you could add this tool to all the packages and their preflight script so that you don't have to rewrite the helper tool if you add or remove package from the metapackage.
