Not sure if a pkg installer like this is "pushable" via ARD, but for those rare cases where we need to equip our Helpdesk folks to uninstall something, this ability would come in handy. The only way to do this (that I could figure out) was to write my data to a temporary file with a known name and path and read that file in the script. I chose to use a file named with a UUID (that I genererated once using uuidgen(1) and hard-coded into the plugin and the script) in / tmp to avoid naming conflicts. My plugin and script try to make sure the temporary file is deleted after I'm done with it. But if not the OS should handle that case sometime in the future. Be very careful that you can create the file safely. If not, a malicious hacker can put a symlink to /kernel there and the machine won't reboot. Or worse. Thanks, I was beginning to suspect this is what I would have to do. Wondering why setenv() wasn't working - surely Installer.app spawns the postinstall scripts? BTW - I looked for a specific solution to this for over a hour before asking here. What "official" documentation I could find was tagged as obsolete. I'm sorry if this is a FAQ. It keeps driving me insane as well :-( So is this a known bug? Anyone else experiencing the same? Workaround urgently needed … I'm having a problem with PackageMaker 3.0.1 in conjunction with Subversion. All the source files needed to build the package are contained in a Subversion working directory which looks like this: Note that each directory contains an additional .svn/ directory with info for Subversion. Some of the directories under payload/ are empty but need to be placed onto the target nevertheless. However, when running PackageMaker on this Subversion working directory those empty directories don't end up in the package as I checked with Pacifist. When I don't run PackageMaker on the working directory but on an exported directory (no .svn/ subdirectories but otherwise identical) everything's fine. My suspicion is that the file filter rule /\.svn$ in PackageMaker is too aggressive and not only excludes the .svn/ subdirectory of an otherwsie empty directory but also the directory itself. But, when I reopen, the "Destination" field goes blank...no matter where I set the destination to. I'm also seeing this with PackageMaker 3.0.2 (174) and it's driving me nuts … Does someone have an idea how to work around this?
