I was not aware of the fix that removing TokenDefinitions.plist helps against relocations. That makes a total of 6 workarounds and patches required to be sure the package doesn't accidentally relocate. Whow! We can't support Snow Leopard unless this issue gets fixed :-( Cheers, Mario Sorry for leaving this out, I have tried all releases of PackageMaker that came with XCode 3.1, 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3 (on Leopard), and 3.2 (on Snow Leopard). All Packages used to behave the same on Leopard, meaning I needed to remove 'IFPkgPathMappings' from the finished package in order to avoid relocation. I have tried only the packages from XCode 3.1.3 and 3.2 on Snow Leopard, they behave identical (i.e., on Leopard they do not relocate after removing 'IFPkgPathMappings', on Snow Leopard 10.6.0 and 10.6.1 they relocate my application). I suppose execve on SL must be more careful to obey the letter of its man page (an interpreter file begins with a line of the form #! interpreter [arg ...]). Remember that several arguments are passed to the postinstall script by Installer - perhaps there's a bug in your script triggered by one of the arguments? I'm responsible for the Graphviz installer (graphviz.org) which uses PackageMaker and has mostly worked fine on Leopard. However on Snow Leopard, the installer now crashes at the postinstall stage. Here is a partial capture of the crash log: Application Specific Information: *** NSTask: Task create for path '/tmp/PKInstallSandbox.7PAWOk/ Scripts/com.att.graphviz.cli.pkg.JpUSK2/postinstall' failed: 22, "Invalid argument". But the ownership of the files is different after this step. The problem is, that Package Maker has stored exact id 100 from SYSTEM1 in the .pkg instead of symbolic name MYUSER.
