You need to tell Core Graphics that the byte order is 32-bit host order (in addition to pre-multiplied, alpha last). Then, after you've done the work, you also need to swizzle the color channels from RGBA (the only order that Core Graphics will accept for 32-bit rendering) to ARGB (the order that Motion expects to get back). I'm updating the sample right now. I'll send you an updated .mm file later today after I've checked it with some other people. One thing, though - I'm only seeing color channel order problems. I'm not seeing any garbage like you are. I wonder why? What size project are you testing with? I've tried 720p and NTSC DV, and don't see any issues. I know the idea is to simplify plugins for FCP X, but sometimes a specialized plugin needs more than 3 or 4 parameters. Right now I'm having flashbacks to AE plugins inside FCP 4. If we don't get custom UI, we really need a push button parameter in the next version of FxPlug, or at least a flag to make a checkbox look like a push button. For example, we could make a simplified version of Beauty Box that only has one parameter, to analyze the current frame and set hidden parameters. FCP 7 will use the default value that was specified when the effect was added to the project; we won't notice if you change it on a subsequent launch. One way to work around this is to change a visible parameter, even if the parameter data doesn't really have anything to do with the UI. For example, you could attach some data to your "Options" button parameter, and change that when you need to re-render. Okay this works.
