image/points orientation in Motion 5 vs FCPX

I noticed in Motion 5 that both point controls and images seemed to be interpreted up-side-down from the way I was doing things (in my stuff the top-left pixel is point 0,0). So I reversed the y axis for points and began walking images from bottom up and now my effect matches up in Motion 5. However in FCPX something is now backward - it's either the points or the images, but I can't tell from the image row data pointers where the image origin is. Anyone have any clue about each is supposed to work, and how you're supposed to tell which way the origin is? _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list. getInputBitmap in FCPX - giving me the drop source arrow icon instead of image?

It's all working properly in Motion. However, I created a template and brought it into FCPX and when I click my button and get the input image (this is not from an image well), it's giving me the drop source arrow icon (at a large size) instead. I remember something along these lines from weeks ago, but I couldn't dig it up. On my Lion system, /Library is still writable by owner, and a quick test reveals that an authenticated tool such as "su" is able to write files here. Existing installers also still seem able to write to /Library on my system. Is this a problem you have encountered with your own installer? This doesn't change anything about how installers are allowed to modify ~/Library, but it does make it more difficult for users to manage their installed plugins via the Finder. On Lion, the user is discouraged from messing with ~/Library (although an experienced user can of course still access the folder in a variety of ways). We license to the machine, not to the user, so we always install into /Library/PlugIns. You're saying that doesn't work? And what about /Library/Frameworks -- is that out of bounds too? Many plugin installers include vendor-specific frameworks that are shared by multiple plugins. Should these be installed in ~/Library/Frameworks instead? (Does that location even work for the framework loader in previous versions of the OS...?) I'm guessing you are getting back NULL because you are asking for kFxDepth_UINT8? What happens if you use the renderinfo passed to you instead of setting one up from scratch? Darrin wrote this on June 24: One thing I forgot to mention is that all processing is now in float. You should never again receive an 8-bit per channel image. They'll all be either 16-bit textures (hardware render) or 32-bit bitmaps (software render). I'll just try passing an empty RenderInfo and see what happens!
