launching Internet Connect (PPP dialer) hidden

Hi,
I'm trying to launch Internet Connect invisible (or hidden?) because I'm displaying my own ppp_progress status bar.
I seem to be successful only at launching it visible. I need to hide it from the user, as it dials out.
Does anybody know how to do that?
