I consider it a possibly undesirable behavior. If you create a new
document, you expect to see a document window appear. Creating a
memo is essentially the same as creating a new document, and so we
show the memo window.
Huh? No it's not.
As currently implemented in Palm Desktop, creating a new memo or
address is treated the same way as creating a new document in other
apps. That's all I meant. I'm not necessarily arguing that's the
right model.
However, it could be that it would be desirable not to open the
window if the memo is created via AppleScript rather than by the
user, or it might be appropriate to add an option to the event to
suppress opening the window.

Mightn't it be an even better idea to supress opening the window
by default? If you're doing things with Applescript, it's
typically to save time, so you tend not to want to waste cycles on
the GUI.
Right, that's what I said right there where you quoted me.
Applescript support in Palm Desktop is *very* important to me, and
doubtless to others.
I'm glad to hear it. Please be sure to let Palm (the company, not
just me) know.
I find myself wondering why, if Applescript is not officially
supported in Palm Desktop, and there are no promises etc., you
haunt this list so tantalizingly. I'm getting garbled signals,
Chris.
I'm on this list in an unofficial capacity, purely of my own
volition, because:
1. I want to be helpful if I can...but I'm not tech. support, and
I'm not even an expert on scripting Palm Desktop (I'm learning,
though, as I follow messages on this and the implementers list, and
familiarize myself with the scripting support in Palm Desktop).
2. I want to get feedback about any bugs or enhancement requests
from the scripting community...but I can't make any promises about
what we might actually do about it. You should know that directly
due to some of the reports on this list, in the upcoming release of
Palm Desktop I've addressed some of the most egregious problems
with the script terminology, like collisions with standard terms.
3. I want to get a sense for the amount of interest in scripting
Palm Desktop, and find out what kinds of things people are doing
with it. You should also know that I am not the only one at Palm
who is interested in supporting AppleScript better...but I can't
make any promises about what might happen in the future.
