Thank you all for your feedback on the Beta 1 release of AppleScript
1.8.2 for Mac OS 9 and X. We have now prepared the last Beta release
and will be working towards a Final version in the coming weeks.
If you are willing to test Beta software, please download the Beta 3
release from
http://connect.apple.com using your Apple ID. Release
notes are downloadable separately so you can see if the changes in this
Beta release apply to you or address your issues.
Note that the Beta 3 release includes an early and incomplete draft of
the AppleScript Studio Reference in .pdf format, and is thus much larger
than the Beta 2 release (over 14 megabytes).
We are actively seeking feedback on this Beta release for both Mac OS 9
and X. For Mac OS X, AppleScript 1.8.2 will be released on the next
periodic Developer Tools CD, and will be rolled into a future version of
Mac OS X. For Mac OS 9, we expect it to be available as a Software
Update for Mac OS 9 and to be rolled into the Mac OS 9 / Classic
environment. Be aware that with most of Apples software development
resources being devoted to Mac OS X, there will be fewer revisions to
Mac OS 9 in the future.
Please report bugs on component AppleScript (new bugs) version 9 or
AppleScript (new bugs) version X. If you are unfamiliar with Apple bug
reporting, see
http://developer.apple.com/faq/techsupport.html#submitbug
for more information.
Regards,
Chris Espinosa
