Correction, Leif.
I actually sent that note a while back - but it was apprehended and detained
by the list 'police' for being overweight. (Must put my messages on a
stricter diet)! ;-)
In the meantime, it seems the above URL, issued in an earlier posting, was
causing problems for a few folk (I just copied it without checking.)
I've since posted an alternative that does work but - just in case you
missed it - here it is again:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=50096
What you find there should include the following PDFs:
------------------------------------------------------
AppleScript Language Guide
This manual provides an overview of the AppleScript language and the tasks
you can perform with it. It also provides reference descriptions of all of
the features of the AppleScript language. (2.6 MB)
------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
AppleScript Scripting Additions Guide
English Dialect (488K)
------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
AppleScript Finder Guide
English Dialect describes the commands and object classes defined by the
Finder for use with the English dialect of the AppleScript language. (358K)
------------------------------------------------------
- all well worth having around!

I picked up JJ's answer in a digest ( - after posting my own, somewhat
bloated response). It's certainly a much simpler way to get that particular
file path!
Nevertheless, I hope you'll still find the stuff about using text item
delimiters handy for more general work with text. :-)
Best wishes.
