Yup. Been solved as many times too...

My 2 cents is the same as it's always been.

Get ACME Script Widgets. Forget about records. Use paired lists.

This has two disadvantages, however: it costs $29 [1], and it's far slower than using Satimage's XMLLib osax or AppleMods' Types library [2].

[1] Which seems rather steep considering there's free libraries and osaxen that can do all that and plenty more.

[2] The Apple Event Manager is dreadfully inefficient at packing large lists into Apple events, so well-optimised vanilla AppleScript code is usually much quicker than osaxen for list-related work.
