save front document as "name" in working_folder

Now his "Documents" is a file of 2 bytes.

I think he would be very glad if someone can propose rapidly a way to recover some of his stuff.

Ouch! :-(

I forgot to say, the user was scripting TextEdit.

I just tried it, Emmanuel (but obviously not on my documents folder).

Here, TextEdit's dictionary suggests that the target file should be Unicode text - but that doesn't work for me. Changing the the target to an alias allows the save to proceed. However, if the target just happens to be a folder, it is converted to a generic document file, containing the contents of TextEdit's front window. The text is saved in rtf format, although no name extension is added in the Finder. The title of TextEdit's front window changes to reflect the folder name. The folder is no more. Its former contents are no more. (That reminds me - time to do a backup...)

This is a serious issue and I'm grateful that you brought it to our attention. I only wish that I could come up with a positive suggestion for the poor victim.
