Move replacing

Hi there,

I am trying to work around a bug with creating log files and replacing them
when a new one is written instead of creating a copy of it. I tried moving
the old file to another directory and then write the new log file then move
the new file where the old one is with replacing, then moving the log file
to where I wanted it. This worked but it put the old document into the trash
which is not what I wanted. I didn't realize that when you add "replacing
existing items" it actually "deletes existing items". Has anyone else come
across this problem, or know of it or any ways around it (i.e. not having
the files in trash)? I don't want to use the empty trash command because I
don't want other trash items to be emptied.

Thanks in advance,
Leigh
