Quite likely it's just corporate habit. Left over from 160 meg being a
rather large original equipment disk. (There are other corporate habits in
AppleScript: consider the seriously deficient default styling of
decompiled source.)

Chris N: you really should take Brennan's comment to heart. (Perhaps
AppleScript Studio will be the time it happens.)
