NAV 7.0 also installs an OSAX in the Scripting Additions folder which
performs scans without having to launch the application. However, it
seems a bit flaky. It's reporting ten infected files on my hard disk but
returns empty lists when asked what the viruses are. A scan with the
application itself reports a clean disk.

Ah! Now it's down to two infected files - Script Editor (which has been
running the test script) and Emailer (with which I'm writing this). The
OSAX seems to equate recent usage with infection. Pretty useless.
