Gradient color info in Illustrator

Greetings all,
I'm writing a script that needs to access all of the color information for
elements in an Illustrator file. I can't seem to get any information on
items that are filled with a gradient, unless it's a formal gradient swatch.
Does anyone know how to get to this info, or if it's possible at all?
Just as additional info, when I get the properties for a gradient-filled
object, the "filled" property is listed as true, but there isn't any "fill
color" information in the property list.
