You're describing a database application - bite the bullet and use
Filemaker. You concede you don't know Facespan and by the time you get your
head around it you could have it up and running in FMP and it would be a lot
more scalable and will continue to work into OSX (or even Windoze).

I have a lot of FaceSpan projects here and they'll all be eventually
re-written into ASS because I can't see FS making it to X despite what their
web site says.

That aside, for me it's a no-brainer for FMP in this case.
