There is a User script for Smile ("Errors") which is supposed to provide the information corresponding to a given error number. Visit Smile's goodies page:
<http://www.satimage-software.com/en/soft9.html>
or download:
<http://www.satimage.fr/software/downloads/errors.sit.hqx>

The standard distribution of Smile for OSX includes a similar "Get error information" command.

I didn't find -3293, but 1010 said "dsBadLibrary = 1010, /* Bad shared library */"

Could you have some oldie installed such as an old CarbonLib ?
