I'm guessing that this turned up in your Google searches?

As probably the best-known source for iTunes scripting information, I'd say it's safe to assume this is a 6.0.2+ feature.

Hi all,

I know this is more of an iTunes related question, but it's about the
iTunes AppleScript dictionary, and there's no iTunes related list, so
this list looks most appropriate.

The dictionary has an "item" class with "persistent ID" property.
This can be used to lookup tracks and playlists, even when things get
rearranged.  From what I can tell, this property was introduced in
the dictionary somewhat recently, version 6.0.2 from various Google
searches.  Can anyone confirm what version of iTunes this property
was introduced in?  Or does iTunes provide a Release Notes that
explains this? (I couldn't find one, but maybe I'm not looking in the
right place).

I really would like to use this property in my application, but I
just want to understand what kind of requirement this places on my
application.  e.g. Am I cutting out iTunes 5 users?

Thanks,

-Dave
