I've used cups-pdf and it's great but I wanted a few different options and a user friendly installer.
I created a similar solution based on the info in this hint. http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031116190809396
In my solution I modified the cups backend use an AppleScript app to take care of all the details.

Paul, I'll send it to you off list.

All, if your interested contact me off list and I'll be happy to send it to you as well.

Thanks, Duane.

Duane also sent me privately a rather complex description of how to install
it. I'm afraid that would be somewhat limiting for users if distributing
scripts. (Also it would be nice to know where it came from.) After first
installing the .pkg, I can't find what was installed where. But new options
appear in the Printer Utility - there's a lot more to it.

I can post the instructions here if anyone is interested.
