http proxy config

I'm writing an http proxy and would like it to automatically configure
itself. In other words, insert itself as the System Preferences proxy
while passing on requests to any proxy that was already there. This
means reading and writing the proxy info in System Preferences. I have
looked through all the plist files I could find and cannot find where
the proxy info is configured so I am at a loss. Does anyone know of a
way to do this from Cocoa? Is there an API I don't know about? Thanks.
Devon
