Probably because they see no need for it?

it's positively cretaceous approach to memory management, my days of finding memory leaks are long gone.

Maybe it's just me, but I think Objective-C's memory management rules are quite simple and work well. I, personally, see no need for garbage collection, which would bring new complexity and new problems.

Of course, as long as garbage collection would be optional, I won't mind ...
