Linking to it produces an app which runs on both Panther and Jaguar.
The only problem is that there are a number of functions (I'm not sure
which) that
are not compatible between 0.9.6 and 0.9.7. You may get lucky for the
ones that
you need, but if you try to use all the features of OpenSSL, eventually
you will run
into severe problems (vis-a-vis undefined symbols) when trying to
compile with
0.9.7 headers and link with 0.9.6 libraries.
