Thanks all again for the input, sorry to cause flame on this list. After reading Allistair's FAQs, I realize that this is not appropriate for this list. I will be going on toward learning ObjC for now, as I have some Mac ideas that I want to try out. When I get to a cross-platform scenario, then I will tackle that with something else.

I have read about the Cocoa interfaces into the TTS engine. I want to build a simple access program into the core OS-level pronunciation dictionary, that will allow me to add new words (or words that the engine pronounces incorrectly) with their correct phonetic pronunciation. Does anyone have any familiarity with this and know if it is possible?
