Thanks, everyone. All the posts have been educational, especially those which contained detailed suggestions and/or code. I appreciate all the effort which went into your contributions. Now it'll take me some time to digest it all.

I see I'm definitely not the only one having to develop for more than one platform. I wish there were in-depth guidelines for it. Unfortunately, I'm sure neither Apple nor Microsoft would have any interest in producing such a document. Many of you contributors would have very different takes on what to write. I'd love to see a document which would contain a variety of solutions (each has its advantages), with significant details, examples, tutorials, etc.

Doesn't cost me anything to dream. Meanwhile, I'll have to do without. Back to work.
