Hi Alastair,
It is indeed the same problem.... I localised the problem to the
antialiasing in combination with a transparent background, when I turn
it off, it works beautifully. I have now circumvented the problem by
first filling the NSImage with white before drawing the string, and
later composite the image in NSCompositePlusDarker mode, which results
in similar quality as drawing the string directly in the view....
