If it is a long-term solution you of course need to iterate over the
items in the menu and fix all keyboard shortcuts.
In an application I'm working on I have full customization of keyboard
shortcuts, with a UI for the configuration. In this app I don't have
any shortcuts set for the main menu before the app is launched, I
populate the menu with shortcuts based on the user preferences while it
is launching.
