The graphics for the buttons can often be found in the Resources directory of the application, and thus used in your app -- although I do not know how Apple feels about this -- I think the style guide said that Apple do not want the same icons to mean different things in different apps, and therefor one should not use their images, but that would seem to apply that if this is the only reason, then one can use their images when the action is exactly the same.

But this latter part has been discussed heavily in the past w/o any conclusion.
