I think this is quite difficult ;-)

I would like to tell my droplet to accept drags directly from the safari's location bar, I mean, not .webloc files (this can be easily done), but being able to drag the little url icon (favicon) directly from the location bar and drop it to my application's icon.

I spent the last two days trying to do it, changing every file type and everything inbetween....but vainly :-(

do you think this is possible?

Yep. Safari uses the "BookmarkDictionaryListPboardType" pasteboard type for dragging. Something along these lines should do the trick...

[myDropTarget registerForDraggedTypes: [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"BookmarkDictionaryListPboardType", @"MozURLType", NSFilenamesPboardType, NSURLPboardType, NSStringPboardType, nil]];

You will also be able to drag & drop items from Safari's bookmarks. HTH,

Peter.
