Interesting article.

One thing we've done that he doesn't discuss is to increase the price
periodically. Maybe this only works for a specialty product, but that's what
ours is. When we introduce a new version with a substantially increased
feature set, we bump the price up -- but only after 60 or 90 days,
announcing it in advance, of course. Shortly before the effective date, we
remind people of the upcoming price increase. We always get a rush of sales
just before the increase, and so far we've still gotten sales after the
increase. Of course, you can only do that a few times. So far, registered
users have gotten all upgrades free, but that won't last forever.
