Getting at document previews

Hi,

I am writing a program that I'd like to add document preview to (PDFs, PNGs etc...), at the moment I am just using NSImage to generate my preview image and show it in an NSTableView, but this can be really slow with big images, what I would like to do is access the preview associated with documents, like the Finder does, how do I do this?
