Question about Finder API and Preview

  • Subject: Question about Finder API and Preview

This may well be the wrong forum for this question, but it's as close as I can get as I cannot seem to find an answer through either web or developer connection or mailing list searches. The Apple applications list area seemed possibly better, but made no mention of Finder.

What I am trying to do is extend the Finder's "Preview" feature to display custom data for a particular file type (actually, trying to display an embedded image from a RAW digital image file so that RAW files have previews like JPG).

I cannot figure out how to write or install such an extension though, the Finder API is more about manipulation of files and I can't find anywhere mention of how to extend the Finder in this way.

Is this even possible? I'm not sure I've seen any other Preview extensions, which concerns me.

Any pointing in the right direction would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

---> Kendall Gelner
