Custom icons on text files?

  • Subject: Custom icons on text files?

Question,

I'm using a number of custom icons in my program: aiff files and sd2 files
work great. I set off a process, a new file shows up with the custom icon.
lovely... BUT with text files, I set off a process, the new text file shows
up with my custom icon while it's processing, but on save and close it
changes to a blank (flat white rectangle) icon... ? am I missing something?
some excruciatingly inscrutable system feature?
