NSManagedObjectContext in IB Controllers Palette?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but how does one go about using the NSManagedObjectContext which is in the IB Controllers palette? And further, what would one connect its persistentStoreCoordinator connection to? This seems like it would be worthwhile to understand.
