The online sources I can find point to this O'Reilly article, <http:// www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2002/03/15/cocoa.html>. Go to page 3 and scroll down to "The Search Item". Follows those instructions, substituting searchField with popUpButton in your mind as you read.
