ZeroLink making progress bar animation smoother?

Okay, I've run into a really weird problem. I have a determinate progress bar in my app. Now, when compiling to a debug build configuration, the animation going across the bar goes smoothly. But when I clean all targets and switch to my deployment target, the animation appears to only advance a frame when the containing view is actually updating, resulting in some apparently choppiness. I've traced this to ZeroLink. If I disable ZeroLink in my debug configuration, the animation is choppy. When I re-enable it and rebuild, everything is fine.

This is on 10.4. On 10.3 and 10.2, the bar's animation is really weird. It advances forth, but it appears to flicker while doing so.
