While I am not a poster of this listI've been using the bounce address to
send e-mails to members of the list so the messages do not appear in the archives
and I had one returned because the user is not subscribed.
I know he was because I had written to him previously
I contacted the user and he informs me that he was unsubscribed without any
notification and the only notice he did receive was that some kind of
deliberation was to occur to determine what if any action is to be taken.
He was informed that the reason for this deliberation was he posted a private
message to the list without the owners consent and I don't believe the DV
Backup guy is so spiteful that he requested or demand this action from them and
from what I can see from the thread they resolved this matter in a mature
manner so I can't agree on the actions the moderators have chosen to take to be
reasonable punishment, it's more of an abuse of power because they can.
Now if the moderators claim anything other than this action was based on the
message post I would have to publicly state they are liars because I am in
possession of the e-mail that mmalcolm sent, this is the only reason he gave to
him and he didn't even have the courtesy to keep him informed of any on going
deliberations.
I had little respect for mmalcom based on a prior incident with another user
(I am not permitted to publicy divulge this information at this users request)
but this just tossed out what little respect I had left for him.
This was the reason given email@hidden who was the suspended party
and from following the threads I think the action taken is unjust and extreme.
While I can agree he violated a list policy, I think the offended party
should have been the one consulted on the action to be taken or at least consulted
on any recommended action but after seeing a public apology and seeing some of
the lists reaction to this apology I have concluded the persons responsible
for this decision should be suspended from their list duties based on their
lack of professionalism and their inability to perform their duties in a fair and
reasonable manner.
So the moderators have just confirmed that they can abuse the power they hold
over anyone subscribed to the list and my respect for these individuals has
just dwindled to nothing.
I will probably be suspended for speaking up but I believe the moderators are
abusing their power and we as users have no options to prevent this.
Robert
